I Drive A Chevy, Is It O.K. If I Learn Social Media From Ford?

by James Ball on March 5, 2010

*Update 3/13/10 Ford wins PR Week Award for Best Use of Social Media! Congrats!

Front and center in this post today resides Scott Monty, head of social media for Ford Motor Company. If you weren’t aware, Scott is HUGE in the world of social media. So many have learned so much and taken their lead from Scott based on the things that he says and does.

While looking around on Slideshare.net, I came across the interesting presentation below about social media for Ford Dealers.  Take a few minutes to go through the slides, and then, as a juicy bonus, head over to Scott Monty’s blog. Yesterday he wrote, “How Ford Uses Social Media“. In the video that accompanies the post, he explains more about the success and differences in Ford’s social media strategy as compared to some others.

Below is the presentation that goes with the above video. With Scott Monty and Ford, the learning never ends!

I certainly picked up some great pointers today, and I hope that you found something valuable to take with you as well. Scott Monty is truly an industry leader and excellent role model for those interested in social media and marketing. Be sure to follow along with Scott as he tweets and blogs his wisdom!  I’m always excited to read and respond to the comments here, so please feel free to leave one today.

Have you put the Team Chevy tweet up on your calendar? Team Chevy NC is rolling into Atlanta on Monday before Team Chevy ATL rolls out on Tuesday and wanted to rub elbows with the team soon to kick their butts.

I really hope that Chevy wins because I will never own another Ford after have a Freestar. Ford did not handle any of this business with the Freestar in an honorable manner. Shame on Ford!
